If any of you have ever been on a tour with me, you have probably heard my catchphrase, “USC is like Disneyland for college kids. It’s the happiest place on earth”. And it’s the truth. When I was looking at colleges, the most important thing for me was that I found a place where I would be happy for my four years there. When I visited USC, everyone was so happy it was almost hard to believe. But I did believe it. And now that I go here, I realize that I was right.
When it all came down to it. the most important thing really was that I went somewhere where I was happy. After living at USC for a year and a half, I can’t imagine being anywhere else because my life here is so good.
The people here are what really make it for me. I have made so many great friends at USC that have changed my college experience in so many ways. I’ve had awesome roommates, hallmates, friends, fraternity brothers, coworkers, classmates and every other interaction I can think of. The family that is assembled here at USC is a mix-up of so many different kinds of people but it comes together in such a great way that everyone is so happy to be where they are.
There’s so much going on around campus that it seems impossible that a person couldn’t find exactly what they are looking for here at USC and I think that’s part of why everyone loves it here so much. I’m always finding new things to do and new experiences to have. Despite spending a year and a half here, it always feels fresh.
There’s also the perfect weather. It’s pretty impossible to not love life when it’s 80 degrees outside and the sky is blue. In January. Coning from a warm weather place, I probably place way too much emphasis on weather but I will always remember the day that I first visited campus and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It was absolute perfection. And I’m from Hawaii. My standards are high.
What it really comes down to is that at USC, happiness is rampant and for me, that was what mattered the most in my college decision. It may be a little more expensive than a trip to Disneyland, but it’s the perfect place for college students and the classes are a little better here than at the Magic Kingdom.
