We’ve only been back at school for one week but already time is just flying by! I’m so glad we had a month off from the hustle and bustle but I have to say I still missed it a lot.
Over break, I had plenty of time to rest and catch up on my reading list. One of the best short stories I read was The Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu. I also went on a quick snowboarding trip to Flagstaff with my friends from home! It’s been at least 5 years since I last went snowboarding, so I was really rusty the first day. I took a couple tough falls but with the great views and even better company, it was a super fun trip overall!
Now that we’re back at school, I’ve been getting everything organized for classes and organizations. But since everything is still getting settled, here are just some random things I’m really excited about this semester!
- I’m taking a weight training class!(??!) I’ve always preferred playing sports outdoors and sometimes feel a little out of place in the gym, especially around machines and all the people who look like they know exactly what they’re doing. I figured since I have the opportunity to take this class while I’m here at USC, I should go for it! I’m really excited because my instructor is incredibly nice and energetic (and she was once a professional bodybuilder!) It’ll be a fun way for be to learn more about weight training and take a break from other classes.
- AthenaHacks is happening this semester! We’ve been planning for our third annual hackathon since the beginning of last semester. From getting sponsors to planning out all the yummy meals, there’s a lot to take care of before our hackathon in April.
- My guilty pleasure, but the next season of The Bachelor started last week, so I have to admit I am looking forward to something every Monday this semester…
- Finally, I’m really excited to spend time with my friends and hang out since we are all (mostly) finishing up our last few classes of our college career. There’s still so much I want to do in LA before we leave, like go to Smorgasburg (a weekly food festival in Downtown LA) or go to another basketball game in the Staples Center!
It was a good winter break and a much needed rest, but I couldn’t be more excited to see what this new semester brings!
