I haven’t lived in LA long, but in the time I’ve spent here, I’ve gotten the chance to explore a little bit of LA and get a taste of what it has to offer. My favorite place so far is definitely Dockweiler beach. Though LA has many different beaches, Dockweiler is my favorite because it’s very different from most of the other beaches. It’s very close to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and it tends to be a lot less populated than the other beaches like Venice or Manhattan Beach. It’s also one of the only beaches that allows bonfires. At night, it’s great to sit on the sand, build a bonfire, snuggle up under some blankets and roast s’mores. All the while you can hear the sounds of planes rushing by over head just after they take off from LAX. It’s a very serene setting.
One time last semester, my friends and I needed a break after a long hard Sunday of studying and we went to Dockweiler around 10 pm equipped with wood, newspaper, blankets, and s’more materials. We built a raging bonfire and even though it started to rain for a bit, we were quite content warming ourselves up by the fire. Dockweiler is a great place to go to relax and forget about the stress of school for a while, and that’s why it’s my favorite place in LA. You should check it out. Here are some pictures of the beach:
