Can you believe summer is almost over? Neither can I, so instead I’ll pretend like it’s not, and relive some of the awesome things I’ve got to do so far. This summer I have the amazing opportunity to intern for Microsoft in Seattle, WA. While most of my time is spent at the Microsoft Campus either working on my project, or participating in intern events, I’ve been able to have some cool experiences outside of work with my fellow interns. Don’t worry, I’ll give you the insider’s scoop on what it’s like to work for Microsoft in a future post.

One of the highlights of my summer was when I took a trip to  Vancouver with some of the interns that I live with. We actually decided the trip last minute, and didn’t even have a hotel booked. Trust me, getting a hotel for 8 people in a country where you have no cell service is not an easy task. But we did it! And had a lot of fun along the way. We spent the weekend checking out the nightlife, eating great food, and even getting in touch with nature.  I was worn out by the end of the weekend, and was not looking forward to heading back to work.

Second on my highlights of summer fun, was playing paintball with about 100 other interns from the Puget Sound area. It was actually my first time ever playing paintball so I was PUMPED to get on the field. I will admit I was nervous about getting whacked by a paintball, so I tended to stay posted behind the field obstacles until I ran out of bullets. I’m 75% sure my blind shooting strategy brought my team to victory. The film 10 Things I Hate About You had given me a false impression of what paint balling would be like, and although I didn’t end up covered in bright neon colors of paint I did have a ton of fun, and took this once in a lifetime pic below.

Lastly, my absolute favorite moment of the summer thus far was getting to see USA vs. Ecuador at Copa America (Copa America is a soccer tournament  for you non-sports fans). It always happens that my birthday falls at the beginning of summer when all my friends are gone, and I’m off in a new place. So this summer my Dad and brother joined me in Seattle for my birthday. Recently, my family and I have been getting into soccer, so when we found out that USA would be playing IN Copa America AT Century Link field ON my birthday, we scooped those tickets right up. I was so thrilled to sit in the stands cheering on Team USA alongside my family and other fans decked out in red, white, and blue, waving our American flags. It was a great game and Team USA ended up winning!

All in all my summer hasn’t been too shabby, and I hope yours hasn’t either! Stay tuned for my post about The Day in the Life of a Microsoft Intern.
