Hi everyone!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to start thinking about what I’m going to do for next summer, but it’s true! I’m currently in the process of applying for internships at various companies for the upcoming summer. Applying for internships can be stressful and complicated, but thankfully the Viterbi Career Center has a lot of different resources available to help us prepare including resume reviews, the career fair, and the Viterbi Career Conference, which happened recently!

The Viterbi Career Conference was an awesome event where a bunch of different representatives from companies that hire engineers come to help host different workshops, resume reviews, and to network with Viterbi students over a dinner. Over the course of the evening, I talked to representatives from Raytheon, Disney, Microsoft, and some other fantastic companies!

We had the opportunity to go to three workshops, so I went to get my resume reviewed during one of the workshops, and the recruiter had a lot of helpful tips on formatting and content! The next workshop I went to was about perfecting our pitch, and it focused on how to sell ourself to recruiters during the first 30 seconds of meeting them. The last workshop I went to was about who to master the behavioral interview, which I found incredibly helpful since I have a behavioral interview scheduled soon!

Overall, the Viterbi Career Conference was a fantastic event that gave me a lot of helpful tips I’ll utilize throughout the recruitment process!
