One of the things I am most proud of my sorority for is our commitment to our philanthropy. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the national philanthropy of Delta Delta Delta. As a whole, Tri Delta chapters across the nation have raised millions for St. Jude. 4 years ago, we were challenged to raise $15 million in 5 years. We did it in 3.5. Now, our current goal is to raise $60 million for St. Jude over the next 10 years! This seems like a quantity of money that could keep St. Jude operating for a long time, but since it costs $2 million a day to operate St. Jude (all of which comes from donations, the patients pay noting), $60 million can only keep St. Jude operating for around a month.
The Tri Delta chapter at USC is proud to be the third largest fundraising chapter in the nation! Last year, we raised over $40,000 for St. Jude. This is accomplished by a variety of fundraising events we put on throughout the year.
One of those events is tonight! It’s DHOP, or Delta House of Pancakes, and we are selling all you can eat pancakes for $5. It’s a great event that a ton of people come to, including some representatives from St. Jude. Everyone has a great time, and it’s wonderful to know that we are making a direct impact on the lives of the patients at St. Jude
