After an amazing trip to Thailand, I have returned to USC and I am so excited about how my semester is looking so far (more to come on Thailand later…but for now, here’s a picture of me with a tiger!)!
Anyways, here’s what my schedule looks like this semester:
The classes I am taking are: Differential Equations (MATH 245), Writing 130, Strength of Materials (AME 204), Physics (PHYS 153), and Motion Picture Camera (CTPR327). After the first week of classes, I think it’s safe to say that I’m going to have a great semester!
I took off two semesters of Math, planning to complete Differential Equations online over the summer; however, I decided to take the class at USC instead. Now, I look forward to taking the class; my professor does research in the area, so he’s really knowledgable and I think I’ll learn a lot!
So far Writing has been much more interesting than I expected. I am taking Writing 130, which is available as an option for Mechanical Engineers. Our first essay is already due in a week, but the topic is really interesting: analyzing the cultural impact of some text. My professor is also really energetic and makes class interesting.
Strength of Materials has been interesting because it is a combination of Materials Science and Statics principles from last semester. It definitely builds on previous knowledge and requires an understanding of past ideas. I’m really enjoying the combination of the subjects because it helps me put everything into context within the world of engineering.
Physics is always a difficult class for me. So far we’ve been reviewing concepts from last semester, including Electromagnetic Waves, but I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new material.
My Motion Picture Camera class counts towards my Cinematic Arts minor. It’s going to be a great class, because each week we get to set up and film a scene of our choosing. I think this will not only be helpful for making films, but also helpful in the photography I do outside of class! I’m looking forward to the creative challenges the class will present.
I am also looking forward to continuing my involvement in extracurriculars like my sorority, Hillel, student film productions, and I am also going to start getting involved in SC Racing and possibly rush the Professional Film Fraternity! I’m so excited to be back, and to get back into the swing of things!
