I have been lucky in my time at USC to get involved with and inspired by many people and groups that I never could have imagined being a part of before college.  Delta Kappa Alpha, the professional Cinematic Arts fraternity on campus, has been extremely beneficial to me as an individual for many reasons, and is my favorite student organization as a result.

Delta Kappa Alpha, or DKA, is a Co-Ed professional fraternity that brings people with a passion for Cinematic Arts of any form together.  The fraternity is open to all majors and people with various interests within Cinema, ranging from film production to video game production.  It is a place where people with various skill sets can come together to collaborate on projects, or to hang out.  The fraternity holds a number of events, including film shoots and film competitions, philanthropy movie screenings, movie premieres, networking mixers, Q&A with guest speakers from the industry, and fellowship events just for members to bond.

Throughout my time in DKA I have connected with other individuals who have strengthened my passion for film.  I have been able to be a crew member on their sets, to attend their premieres, to ask for their support on films I have made, and to have impassioned conversations about films we see.  It is an incredible creative support system – connecting to other people with different perspectives adds a lot to the creative process.  Beyond this, it is an incredible way to learn about various professional opportunities on campus and in Los Angeles.  People constantly update members on networking events, premieres, internship opportunities, and the like.  As an engineering major, it is interesting for me to understand what kind of technical roles exist in the industry.

Most importantly, DKA has provided me with an incredible group of friends.  The bonds I have made with the other members of the fraternity are very strong; it is easy to get along with people who have similar interests and goals.  The people in DKA are authentic, genuine people with kind hearts and positive attitudes.  I could not have asked for a better group of people to spend much of my time in college with.  DSC05420 DSC05321 DSC05390
