This weekend started early for me, since my Writ130 professor cancelled class on Friday! This means I got to spend my morning talking to prospective students at a Preview event. After that, I got to come back to my house and take a nap (which was magical).
Friday night was the Gala for the School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), which is similar to Viterbi Ball. A lot of my friends from my Professional Cinema Fraternity, Delta Kappa Alpha, went to the ball with me. Before going to the event, I went to dinner at La Barca with the SCA Ambassadors (kind of funny for the Viterbi Ambassador to crash the SCA Ambassador dinner!). After dinner, we made our way over to SCA to load the buses to the event. The event was at a club in Hollywood, and it was an amazing evening!
Then, on Saturday morning, I went to the LA Times Festival of Books, which was going on on campus! There were tents covering campus, filled with different books, authors, and other cool things to purchase. There were also really delicious food trucks – which I definitely took advantage of. At the book fair, I got to see Lemony Snicket speak about his new book, The Dark. When I was younger, I was a huge fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events, so it was awesome to get to see him speak! After the festival, I went back to my house to do homework for a couple of hours before heading off to Milk Desserts! I had never tried Milk before, and it was delicious. They have really great ice cream and milkshakes, but they also have Red Velvet cake that is outstanding.
Sunday, I went to an event at my Sorority in the morning before returning to the Festival of Books. After the Festival, I went to a friend’s apartment to do homework with them. Once I finished an assignment, I went over to the Delta Kappa Alpha house for a French-themed cheese event! It was a nice way to spend the afternoon. Then, I headed back to my house and did homework for the rest of the evening. I have a math midterm on Wednesday, so I’m trying to get prepared for that!
