I always liked math and science, and I knew I wanted to study engineering when I got to college.  My dad is a Mechanical Engineer, and I always saw what he did and wanted to do something similar.  However, my true “aha!” moment as a Mechanical Engineer, or the moment when I knew I was really doing the right thing with my life, was actually after I saw the movie “Gravity”.

The movie “Gravity” has really incredible mechanical technology behind it.  A company called Bot & Dolly created robot arms that were used to move the cameras at angles that had never before been achieved by film technology.  After seeing the movie, I looked up a link to the Bot & Dolly website, where I found their reel.  Bot & Dolly focuses on these incredible robot arms, and they use them for artistic means.  Their reel includes work on films, advertisements, photography shoots, and other creative applications of this new technology.

Because I consider myself a creative person (I have a huge interest in Cinematic Arts, photography, painting, drawing, and animation), I was really excited to see a company that blends my two passions so seamlessly.  They are actively pushing to use technology to advance creative projects.  When I saw that this company existed, I knew with complete certainty that I was in the right major.
