This past year, I was able to participate in a program called FreshFest as a Freshmen Engagement Fellow (FEF). This basically meant that I was a counselor for a 2 day orientation program for Freshmen at Hillel. My responsibilities did not end after that retreat. I now continue to check in with the Freshmen who were in my group to see how they are adjusting to college life.
I was recently selected to be a co-chair for the FreshFest program, meaning I get to plan the entire retreat and manage the group of Freshmen Engagement Fellows. This requires me to plan the event, which occurs just before Welcome Week in the fall, all throughout the Spring and the Summer. Two of the other FEFs from last year are going to be the others leading the group. I’m really excited for the opportunity because it gives me a chance to exercise my organizational skills and my leadership skills. Plus, I’m excited that I’m going to get to know a whole new group of people – both FEFs and Freshmen!
FreshFest is one of the programs that helped me to find my place immediately at USC, and I want to be able to provide that same experience for others. Being a FreshFest Co-Chair requires me to dedicate myself to the betterment of the program and to the successful completion of planning and execution. I’m really excited to work hard and make this the best FreshFest program yet!
