Hannah just passed the halfway mark of her internship at Chevron in Bakersfield, California this summer. As a Petroleum Engineering intern working in reservoirs, she works with a team to perform reservoir characterization studies, data mining, property evaluations and development planning. Through meetings and presentations, she is able to collaborate with other employees and interns in addition to learning more about the oil industry! This internship has been a great way to get hands on experience and also an opportunity to meet new people from all over the world. As an extra bonus, she gets to travel around California on the weekends. Almost every Saturday and Sunday, a few of the interns get together to see the sights from relaxing on Laguna beach to hiking in Yosemite!

So far, one of the main highlights has been the Intern Conference at headquarters up in San Ramon. Over three days, I was able to meet and hear Chevron’s CEO speak about his experience, participate in a variety of workshops and meet the other interns at different locations. I got to learn more about not only the opportunities available in petroleum but also work life in general. The interns and I even got the chance to do some sightseeing. Not too far from San Francisco, we walked around Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39, took a cruise that went under the Bay Bridge and past Alcatraz, and of course got to eat lots of delicious food. By far, the trip was definitely one of the most memorable! [/glg_short_content_box] [/glg_short_two_thirds] [glg_short_one_third]#ViterbiCareers Tweets
