Archana, Jordan, Lyssa, and Markus just got back from Israel with USC iPodia! iPodia is a program where students spend the semester taking a class together with students from around the world. In this class, students from USC, PKU in China, KAIST in Korea, Technion in Israel and BITS in India studied the principles of global innovation together. It’s not just about engineering, but how to apply concepts in a global market and capitalize on cultural differences for innovation. They spent the semester working on projects together via web chat tools, and finally got to meet each other at the end of the semester during a class trip to Israel. In Israel, they got to take classes and lab tours at Technion University and also experience the cultural aspects of Israeli life. Check out our photo gallery below!

I have always been interested in the business side of engineering, and iPodia was the perfect way to get introduced to topics like the innovative lifecycle, market trends, and how ideas become products. Although the class itself provided great insight to these and other topics, the most memorable part of the class was meeting people who I had previously only worked with over Skype in person in Israel. It’s unlike any other class offered at Viterbi, and the class itself is a testament to the innovation constantly happening in and around Viterbi.
