Why USC? Why USC. The answer to my “why USC?” is everything in my life. Right now I am writing this from a sunny spot in the lawn, sitting in front of the weekly Wednesday farmers market. I woke up in a house with my 5 best friends, made a bagel, and skateboarded here. I have work in two hours, and class in four. After that I plan on doing work or hanging with friends. After writing that sentence I was interrupted by 4 friends that stopped to say hi to me.

I don’t have Friday class and my Thursday classes end at 2pm so my weekend starts early. I think on Friday I will drive to Orange County to get lunch and maybe hit the beach after. I have plans Saturday to make ceviche for myself and paint pottery with my roommates. Sunday I will do work for the most part and end the night watching a movie.

All of these things may seem so mundane but it is my Why USC. I can tell you about the fun concerts, exciting football games, and on-campus festivals but those aren’t part of my regular routine. I wanted to go to a school where I would be happy with my everyday and not spend my time looking forward to the next big event. I didn’t want to pick my school based off of who would throw the coolest stuff at me or offer me the most prestige, but instead where I can see myself living my day-to-day life and being happy with normalcy.

Try to envision yourself at USC. If you can see yourself perfectly happy doing nothing except sitting on the grass and enjoying the atmosphere, then maybe this is your Why USC too.
