With the extended winter break in full swing, fall semester is far behind us. Usually, students would take this time to travel and hangout with friends but obviously that is no longer the case mid-covid. However, some still have to travel to go back home to families or pre-planned vacations. Here is my experience on a plane during these funky times!

I have never been on a plane before so traveling under these unusual circumstances was just the norm for me. I downloaded my boarding pass ahead of time to avoid unnecessary contact with others. I wore two masks and my glasses the entire plane ride as a deterrent of harmful particles. Twenty four hours before the flight, I checked my seat reservation often and changed it whenever I saw someone had reserved a seat directly next to me. This led to me having an entire row to myself, which made me feel a lot more comfortable traveling. Always have sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer ready to clean everything! Doing research ahead of time, I learned the plane’s filtration system made the enclosed space relatively safe to be near others but I was still very careful and took no chances. Window seat is the safest to avoid contact with others. I quarantined after the flight and got a test done five days later. The test came back negative!

Traveling is a tricky thing right now and obviously staying home is the safest thing to do. But if you do travel, make sure to stay extra safe and extra cautious!
