Last weekend was quite a big weekend on campus, since it was Parents’ Weekend, Halloween, and the highly anticipated USC vs. Stanford game!

My parents came to USC for their first Parents’ Weekend this year, even though they come up for several USC home football games a year. I always love seeing my parents and showing them around campus or LA, and they always bring me tons of delicious food and of course more wintery clothes! Here’s a quick summary of my weekend:

Friday: My sorority had a Parents’ Dinner on Friday night, which I of course went to with my parents. It was a nice way to introduce them to my sorority, my sorority sisters and their parents. This was a really great opportunity, because although my parents come to campus frequently they hadn’t seen my sorority yet.

Saturday: GAMEDAY. ESPN College GameDay picked the USC vs. Stanford game as the game to watch, and they broadcast their show live from in front of the Coliseum! I went last year with some friends for the USC vs. Oregon game, but this year I went to GameDay with my Dad! We got there at 6 a.m. and managed to get a good spot by the stage. I love the show and watch it every Saturday morning (as does my Dad), so it was special to watch it live and share the experience with my Dad, not to mention all of the other USC students and fans who made it to the Coliseum so early in the morning! As you’ve probably heard, the game was the most incredible USC football game that I personally have been to, and one of the greatest games in recent years. The atmosphere in the student section and the sold-out stadium was electric, filled with Trojan spirit. Everyone stayed through all three overtimes, cheering their hearts out. Both teams played such outstanding football, its just too bad that USC didn’t come out with a victory. I had some friends visiting from Stanford for the game, and they of course were extremely happy that Stanford won, but still respectful of USC.

Sunday: In the morning my sorority held its Presents ceremony on the front lawn, where the new members (myself included) got to show our parents what it means for us to be members of Gamma Phi and what we’ve been up to since school started. After the ceremony my Big Sis and I gave my parents a formal tour of the house – I really enjoyed sharing my second home on campus with them.

After such a fun and eventful weekend, it was time for my parents to head back to San Diego. I had such a great time with them, and I know they enjoyed it as well.
