After a very busy week filled with homework, papers, meetings, etc., I am glad to say that it is finally the weekend! I am really excited for this weekend in particular because I am going home to San Diego! I haven’t been home since school started, so it will be nice to see my parents and catch up on some sleep! I should say though, that I’m not only going home to see family – I am also going home for the San Diego Chargers football game versus the Kansas City Chiefs at Qualcomm Stadium this Sunday. I love watching sports and football in general, and my team is the San Diego Chargers! (One of the many reasons I love USC is the Trojan spirit and football games!!). I have been attending Chargers games since I was a little kid, and I love that I am close enough to home that I can still go down to San Diego for some games throughout the season. It’s tough to balance with my academic schedule and USC football games, but it is always worth it for me.
Sometimes, on my way home to San Diego, I choose to take the Amtrak train – it’s a fun ride, the scenery is beautiful, its inexpensive, and it gives me time to do homework on the way there! USC provides a tram service to and from Union Station, which makes it easy to travel to San Diego.
As a Chargers fan, I am a member of Bolt Pride, a Chargers fan group that my dad founded. In addition to being one of the largest fan groups with an international presence, Bolt Pride focuses on making an impact in the community. Bolt Pride partners with the American Cancer Society to promote cancer awareness, Donate Life San Diego in promoting the organ donor program, and Athletes for Education to help raise funds for the benefit of community youth programs.
Every Chargers game for me is an amazing experience, filled with family, great food, music, and a great football game! I can’t wait for this Sunday! Go Chargers! Bolt Pride!
