Just three years ago, I stepped foot onto USC’s campus for the second time, having been admitted to USC.

My first time on campus was the summer beforehand. I was competing in an international robotics competition. I remember staying in the Parkside dorms by the main engineering buildings, walking past Tommy Trojan each day to present our robots in the Galen Center, and running around campus with a bunch of other high schoolers during a USC-themed scavenger hunt. Little did I know that I would be spending the next four years of my life here, and I can’t believe I have just over one year left.

So, for all of you trying to decide between schools, you might be wondering, “Why USC?”

Today, I thought I’d share with you two of my recent experiences that exemplify why I think USC is the best school for me:

The Opportunity to Enjoy a Disneyland Day

Yesterday, some other Viterbi students and I went to Disneyland. You can see our smiling faces in front of the classic castle in the cover photo for this blog. We did a fun scavenger hunt, which helped me to both learn more about Disneyland and get to know my friends better during the process. This event was a great example of why USC is such a unique school: I’m within driving distance of The Happiest Place on Earth!

The Opportunity to Attend a Renowned Artificial Intelligence Conference

Recently, I attended an artificial intelligence (AI) conference put on by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. I was selected to attend this conference by a Viterbi professor who is passionate about educational outreach in AI. Because of Viterbi’s resources, I was able to travel to New Orleans, meet other undergraduate students pursuing STEM majors, network with advanced artificial intelligence researchers, and teach robotics to kids. Some of the people I connected with even invited me to attend and present my research at their conferences in the future!

USC Explore programs start this week, so I’m excited to meet some future Trojans. Although the college admissions process can be stressful, I hope you all enjoy this growing process and find time to have some fun during it all.
