My freshman year I lived in Birnkrant, a freshmen dorm on the north side of campus. I lived on the 7th floor with forty other scholarship students (half boys half girls) and made some of my best friends through that time. My resident advisor, Christine, was one of the coolest people I have met at USC, and since moving out of Birnkrant, I live with girls I met on that floor.

Birnkrant is the building on the right! It’s right next to Leavey Library, the building on the left.

One of my favorite things about Birnkrant is that I could always walk around the floor and hang out with friends. I became very close with students on other floors because, as I would wander around the dorm, I would inevitably meet new people. One of the best things about living in a dorm is that your classmates are all your next door neighbors. If you want to work with someone on a homework assignment, or need help understanding a concept, students in your classes are only a few doors away.

Since Birnkrant I’ve lived in two houses a few blocks north of campus (an easy walk and an even easier bike ride away) and have met more great people and have made great new friends.
