This morning I woke up with my voice half gone and a sore throat. Being sickly is never fun especially in the hectic life of a college student. But, there are a lot of ways to help the process of getting better go faster.

First off, when I came to college as a freshman, I was sent with a medical kit for practically every illness possible. From ear infections to migraines to colds, my mom sent me to USC with a myriad of remedies. Fortunately I haven’t had to use almost any of it. There are some that were actually helpful though, and (if your mom isn’t a doctor and doesn’t feel the need to send you to college with a pharmacy in your suitcase,) here are a few meds I’ve actually used: EmergenC, cold medicine, and Tylenol/Advil. On campus there’s a school pharmacy, and CVS has a pharmacy nearby as well so don’t fret if you don’t have something!

My favorite thing to drink when I'm sick is cinnamon, honey tea! It's so good for your throat and your immune system.

The new USC Health Center is also an excellent resource for when you’re sick. They have everything from medical doctors, to chiropractors, to dermatologists. The doctors and nurses are all really nice and helpful.

But the most important thing I do when I’m sick is get is to get plenty of sleep! Looks like there won’t be any late nights for me this week!
