Your student ID card or “.edu” emails are worth a good 10% discount with a bunch of different brands. I registered for the website Unidays as a freshman at USC and it has matched me with student discounts at tons of stores. There’s clothing options like 20% off Aerie, 25% of Cotton On, 10% off at Microsoft, 15% off Adidas, and many more.

This year, MasterClass was doing a university promotion where you could sign up for a one year subscription with your “.edu” email for 99 cents. I was super excited because usually MasterClass subscriptions are $180 per year. MasterClass is a website that offers courses in various topics taught by experts in that field. There is a class on skateboarding by Tony Hawk, science by Neil deGrasse Tyson, cooking by Gordon Ramsay, and more on other topics like negotiating, poker, and comedy.

Since then, my favorite MasterClass courses have been:

  • Design and Architecture by Frank Gehry
  • Gardening by Ron Finley
  • Pastry Fundamentals by Dominique Ansel

Next on my list:

  • Mexican cooking by Gabriela Cámara
  • Self-Made Entrepreneurship by Sara Blakely

The moral of this story is that MasterClass was a worthwhile 99 cent purchase, but also never forget your student ID. Another worthwhile stop is USC’s student ticket office where you can score cheap tickets to the movies, Knott’s Berry Farms, and discounts on more local outings. Good luck couponing!
