It’s crazy to think that it’s been a year since I’ve lived in a freshman dorm! I definitely miss it, because I’ve had some amazing times in my freshman dorm: Birnkrant!

I remember feeling pretty unsure about what dorm I wanted to live in, and I was apprehensive about living in a dorm as well. When I first moved in, I was happy to see that my room was spacious and bright, and there were a ton of other fellow freshmen on my floor! I quickly met some amazing friends from my floor, and that was the beginning of a wonderful year!

I met so many awesome people in Birnkrant, and I’m still incredibly close with many of them! Living in a freshman dorm was a great way to quickly meet new people and bond. I got to meet people from all different types of majors as well, which I really loved. It gave me a chance to branch out a little from engineering and learn more about what the other awesome majors USC has to offer!

One reason I really loved living in Birnkrant was that it felt like it was at the center of campus! It’s right next to EVK, a dining hall, and the first floor is a 24 hour convenience store (Trojan Grounds) that also has a 24hr Starbucks! Birnkrant is also just a skip away from Leavey Library, and it faces McCarthy Quad, where events like the Welcome concert, Conquest, and Springfest all occur! It was so great to be able to grab some friends from my floor and get access to these awesome (free!) events that are only an elevator ride away. Birnkrant also had weekly faculty master dinners, which I really enjoyed because of the awesome food and guest speakers! There were also tons of activities for residents, and I even got to go see Wicked at the Pantages in Hollywood with other residents! In addition to all of the social perks of living in Birnkrant, I appreciated how there were study rooms on each floor, for when we had to crack down during finals season! I found that it was a great balance between work and play, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more!
