Hey everyone! It’s hard to believe that it’s already November! It feels like I just started the semester yesterday! Since we’re so far into the semester, I’m getting ready to register for my courses for the Spring semester. As I was creating my new schedule, this got me thinking about what I really enjoy so far in my current schedule.
This semester, I decided to branch out and take a fun class unrelated to engineering: Ballroom Dancing! Going into it, I was pretty skeptical about how I was going to like it: the class was pretty late (8:00PM-9:20PM), and I am not a good dancer. But, I decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did! Having a class like this can really break the monotony of lectures, discussions, and labs. And, since it’s a class, I can’t talk myself out of it (like the gym). 🙂
In the beginning, I thought I wasn’t going to like the class at all: trying to learn how to dance in a room full of people I don’t really know? No thank you! But, after forcing myself out of my comfort zone, this class is definitely something I look forward to after a long day of classes! It’s an amazing way for me to relax and learn something new at the same time! Where else can you get that kind of experience?
I would highly recommend taking some fun classes like ballroom dancing if your schedule allows it! It’s an amazing opportunity to take advantage of: where else can you find such a wide variety of classes to choose from? You can literally pick any class that peaks your interest, and perhaps pick up a few more skills (other than your engineering skills, of course) along the way! In my ballroom dancing class, we have learned the foxtrot, waltz, swing, cha-cha, and a lot more!
Since I’m going through such a positive experience with this course, I’ve decided that next semester I’m going to take a yoga class! Again, this is definitely out of my comfort zone (I am not flexible at all!), but I’m looking forward to a new class that will bring some variety to my life! Hope this encourages you to take some classes that are outside your comfort zone! Until next time, Fight On!
