With four finals and a big database project to hurdle over, it’s hard to imagine summer is just around the corner. But it is! And it’ll be a summer of many firsts for me because I’ll be staying in LA! (instead of going home to Manila, which I have done the past two years)… Here’s what I’m looking forward to!
- ◊ My family is visiting LA! – since I won’t be going home this summer, home is coming to me! My parents and some of my brothers and sisters are flying in to see me. I can’t wait to show them around 🙂
- ◊ Summer internship with Deloitte at their downtown LA office – this is going to be an awesome experience! I’ll be working for Deloitte’s Technology Risk practice, analyzing the business risk of information technology in companies’ systems. Plus, I’ll be working alongside my fellow VSA, Nitasha! Read more about her experiences in her blog.

Industry Night -- one of the networking events at USC where I got to meet corporate reps from Deloitte
- ◊ Salsa/Mambo Festival in Palm Springs – salsa dancing is one of my favorite things to do. I love meeting new people and amazing, talented dancers at salsa events all over Southern California! From LA to Long Beach, Orange County and San Diego, there’s never a shortage of salsa clubs to hit up. This summer, the big salsa/mambo festival will be held in Palm Springs. Dancers from USC’s very own salsa team, Break On 2, are going to head out together. I’m sending videos of a few of my co-choreographed salsa pieces to the judges in hopes of performing at the event. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! It’d be such an honor to perform at the festival.
- ◊ …And hopefully lots of road trips and beach trips in between – I recently spent the day at Newport Beach and it was LOVELY. I can’t wait to go back!
With that, I’ll be signing off for the school year. Junior year is at a close… I’ll be back for more blogs after the summer to tell the tales of a Trojan senior (Woo! I can’t believe it). In the meantime, I hope everyone kicks butt at finals and has a fantastic summer!!!
