As the Fall semester and 2010 come to an end, let me say it’s been a pretty darn good year. First of all, the Trojans beat the Bruins (both in national university rankings — USC’s at #23! — and in football) which ends this season on a high note. Among some other things I’ve accomplished thus far:
- My Writing-340 class and I got to work with the City of LA Mayor’s Office in developing a city-wide car sharing program (think Zipcar) for Los Angeles. Zipcar already works with USC, UCLA and other close-knit communities, but a group of city officials are looking to expand the program to the rest of LA. The goals? Less cars on the road and reduced traffic/congestion. Mind you, this project is not the easiest task given the sprawled out, dispersed nature of the LA…
- I learned how to make a website using MS Web Expressions. Exploring webpage design and functionalities can be intimidating without prior experience, but addicting once you get the hang of it!
- I attended SWE’s National Conference in Orlando, Florida and am looking forward to the next Regional Conference in Palm Springs, CA!
- Last but definitely not least, I’ll be heading the Information Systems Association (ISA) this Spring as the new President. Exciting times! I’ve got lots of events and opportunities in mind for ISA and I can’t wait to put them into action with my fellow officers!
But first, let’s get these finals over and done with. I’ve got 4 to go, then I fly back home to Manila (Philippines) for winter break, where I will see/feel no trace of anything synonymous to winter at all! Ha ha. I can’t wait to be back home.
Fight on and Beat the Finals!!
