As the school year comes to a close, everything seems to happen at once. My weeks and weekends are jam packed with activities to finish off the year. Last weekend was one of the busiest—and most fun!

To start off, instead of having our normal weekly training on campus, our Air Force ROTC Detachment went to Dockweiler beach Friday. We had a blast running barefoot in the sand for our Physical Training, then we had to complete various Group Leadership Projects. The Projects ranged from navigating through a ‘mine field’ filled with hidden cones to rescuing our fellow teammates from capture. It was a nice change from marching around campus. To celebrate the end of our last training session, we had dinner at Sharkeez in Manhattan Beach.

The next day my sorority sisters and I participated in TKE’s philanthropy, called TKE Gladiators. We had a blast navigating through obstacle courses, playing Tug of War, and dominating Bungee Football—all in the name of charity! Afterwards, my good friend Maddie and I ventured to Marina Del Ray where we spent the afternoon on a friend’s boat soaking up some sun and relaxing.

To finish off the weekend, a group of ROTC students went to the National Guard Armory to help with an organization called Operation Gratitude. We stuffed boxes with dozens of goodies like DVDs and books for soldiers deployed around the world. The enthusiastic volunteers were dancing and smiling the whole time we worked, which made it a great experience. Then it was back to sorority life—I drove to Santa Monica with a few friends to find dresses for this Friday’s Diamond Ball invite. We had lunch at a great café then explored the numerous shops in the area.

What a great weekend! I saved my homework for Sunday evening, when I was well rested. I’m looking forward to this Friday and can’t wait to dance the night away with my sisters!
