Wow, this semester passed fast. I feel like I say that almost every semester, but it always seems to take me by surprise! In a way, I’m really happy that I have these blog posts, because it is a nice rhythm to have every week, and it’s cool to look back at the beginning and see what has changed. Here’s some of the things I did this semester!

The first day of school, freshman year! It’s so crazy to think how much has changed since that day. I even had a lanyard around my neck so I wouldn’t forget my ID card and keys (typical freshman).

Learning How To Cook

Getting accustomed to apartment life, I’ve learned how to cook pretty fast! Before this year, I would not have been able to feed myself. But I’ve worked out a schedule to make sure that I get a good balance of nutrients, but don’t spend too much money. For instance, I take advantage of places like Fresh&Easy for quick meals, which I need on Tuesday’s and Thursdays, which are my busier classdays. Fresh&Easy has microwavable fresh meals that are pretty healthy and very tasty! However, they aren’t the cheapest option, so I usually don’t get food from there more than twice a week. On the other days, I typically have time to make food for myself. I love stirfrys! They are so easy to cook, and actually end up being pretty healthy. Overall, I’m glad that I learned how to cook pretty fast, and I’ve found it to be much more fun than I expected.

Making stirfry! Yes, that’s my excited face.

Reuniting with my Birnkrant Peeps

I was saddened this year when I thought that I wouldn’t be able to see my dorm-mates from last year. They are such a great group of people, and I thought that my year would be so sad without that. Boy I was wrong! We got together for dinner almost every month, and I’ve been able to hang out with them in different ways. Last year, we might just hang out while doing homework, or maybe quickly get food at EVK. But now, if we are making time to see each other, we end up having a potluck and getting to relax a lot more. It has been nice to see how everyone has been, since classes are definitely getting more challenging for everyone. It’s nice to reminisce about some of the weird things we did freshman year (staying up until 4 AM playing Super Smash Bros, to name a nerdy example). And I’m looking forward to another semester of hanging out with them!

Reunited! We were trying to recreate a picture from the first week, but it was kindof a struggle….

Going to More Football Games

I absolutely love football games, and I probably always will. It is one of the greatest things about going to school here, because win or lose, its still a lot of fun! This year wasn’t the best for us, but I still enjoyed going with all my Frisbee friends, and hanging out. I also made a vow this year to go to every single football game, since last year, I maybe have skipped a few (sometimes, an Ultimate tournament would fall on the same weekend, and I couldn’t give that up!). But I managed to make it to all the games this year, even the Thanksgiving one!

Hanging out before the game with my Frisbee girls!

Well, that’s a short recap for now. I hope you all have a great winter break, and save some time in between college apps for relaxing! See you next semester!

Going to formal a year ago at the engineering frat! I’m going again this Friday, so it’ll be a nice way to end classes.
