Hey there! I can’t believe we are so far into the semester – I have already taken my first midterm! With classes picking up and midterms starting, I have been looking for ways to get out of the library and get some exercise. And so I went to the tennis courts at USC to play a few games this past Friday and had a blast!

Growing up, I played tennis with friends, family – basically anyone who would play with me. I even tried it competitively for a few years when I was in middle school. I really enjoy the sport and have always tried to keep up with it throughout the years. Tennis is one of the sports that you can play your whole life, no matter how old you are.

Fortunately, my boyfriend also plays tennis so it’s easy to play pick up games with him and keep my game sharp during the school year. I have found it to be a great stress reliever, especially because I get to enjoy the outdoors and tan while burning a few extra calories. Playing on Friday made me realize how much I missed playing sports. I played lacrosse and softball throughout high school and dabbled in tennis but have unfortunately not played much sports since.

My advice to incoming/current college students is to get involved with something OUTDOORS. I spend a lot of my time working inside and so getting some fresh air always does me good. Also a little bit of exercise goes a long way. As the old Nickelodeon slogan would say, “Get up, go outside and play!”

Best,
