I have been at USC for two years now, yet I still feel as though I have not seen LA. It’s been hard to explore the city when school, homework, and my job keep me busy. However, this semester I have made it my mission to eat at new places, see the sights, go where the locals go, in short, to become a true Angeleno.
I am happy to say that I have now seen the stars at Griffith Observatory, sat on the famous 500 Days of Summer bench, thrift-shopped in Burbank, walked down Hollywood Boulevard and seen the beautiful art and the LA skyline at the Getty Museum. I also recently took my first trip ever to Disneyland. It truly is the happiest place on earth. So far my favorite local restaurants are Guisado’s Tacos (very authentic Mexican food), Porto’s Bakery and Cafe (delicious and great for a college budget), Nickel Dinner (home of the bacon glazed donut) and Philippe the Original (delicious French dip sandwiches). I think I’m on my way to becoming an Angeleno! My next challenge is to find the best BBQ in town! I have been to Road to Seoul, a great Korean BBQ, but still, not the same.
