Wow time has really flown this semester. It feels like just yesterday I was moving in, it’s hard to believe that a whole fifteen weeks of homework, labs, midterms, and fun has gone by! This semester has definitely been my most challenging yet. Between really getting into some of my upper division coursework and having a full schedule of extracurriculars, I’ve been busy! I’ve had such a great time though it seems time really does fly when you’re having fun.
My classes this semester have definitely been more rigorous and involved than my freshman year classes, but I’ve really liked getting into some real classes that are what engineering is all about. I’ve definitely learned a lot and challenged myself and am really proud of everything I’ve accomplished. My favorite class was definitely my chemistry class where I got to learn about how to approach experimentation and how to use all the cool lab equipment (read more about this class here!).
I also really jumped into activities this semester! From joining a sorority to taking on a leadership position in AIChE to working with freshmen through the Freshman Academy Program, I’ve had my hands full. Even though they have kept me busy, I wouldn’t trade any of these extracurriculars for anything and am really excited about all the opportunities I’ve had and all the new friends I’ve made. Through a lot of these organizations, I’ve also gotten to know a lot of upperclassmen in engineering, and they have proved to be valuable resources so far!
Football this fall didn’t turn out as we had hoped, but it was fun all the same and I’m going to miss gamedays dearly until next fall. Hopefully Matt Barkley is all healed up for the Sun Bowl! It’s better than no bowl…
As great as this semester has been, I’m really looking forward to a few weeks to rest and get ready to go again in January! I’ll be celebrating Christmas at home with the family then heading up to Lake Tahoe with my best friends in engineering to go snowboarding! I haven’t been snowboarding in a while because I’ve been injured the past few years around this time, so I’m really excited to get out on the slopes!
