Happy last week of classes! This year, I stayed on campus instead of going home for Thanksgiving break, which gave me the opportunity to reflect on all the things I’m grateful for at this school:
- My AthenaHacks girls: I’m incredibly thankful for all the amazingly supportive and smart women in this club. While we do spend most of our time organizing the hackathon, we also hang out outside of our weekly meetings and help each other with CS coursework! It’s always nice to see a friendly face in SAL 🙂 As a freshman in the club last year, I got so much valuable advice from the older organizers!
- Thematic option: I still find it so cool that I’m able to study the humanities alongside my technical degree! I’m currently taking a political philosophy class, whose course material surprisingly overlaps with my discrete math class sometimes! I’m thankful for how TO has allowed me to grow intellectually, and how it has given me some of my best friends at USC!
- 104 course producers: In CSCI, my data structures class, CPs (sort of like undergraduate TAs) hold office hours from 10am-8pm, 5 (sometimes even 6) days of the week to help with assignments! The sheer amount of one-on-one help available is one of my favorite aspects about the CS program.
- Trader Joe’s frozen meals and the microwave in VPD: thank you for consistently saving me this semester. Especially the frozen gnocchi.
In all seriousness though, I think it’s really easy to get caught up in a whirlwind of deadlines, work and stress in college. Take some time to step back and reflect on how far you’ve come, and all the things that have enriched your time at college!
