There are so many things to love about Los Angeles. One of my favorite things is exploring all the neighborhoods. If I’m in the mood for a certain kind of food, we’ve got Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Thai town, Little Ethiopia (I still need to check this one out!) — the list goes on and on. Then there are a wealth of neighborhoods like Los Feliz and Silverlake, which are filled to the brim with fun stores, coffee shops, and breakfast places. On the other hand, if the hustle and bustle of the city ever gets to be too much, it’s always easy to head to Culver City ( which has a great Trader Joe’s) and Pasadena, both of which feel a little bit more like my hometown of Santa Barbara.
I never find myself without something to do in the city. Many of my friends and I have season passes to Disneyland, so that’s a fun way to spend a weekend night. On winter weekends, snowboarding in the mountains is only a short ways away. When the weather is nice (which is pretty much all the time), the beach is a wonderfully relaxing way to soak up some sun. And then, of course, there are all kinds of special events and concerts going on all the time, as well as industry events where you can meet people working in your field and learn more about what you might want to do in the future. When I was applying to college, I never imagined that I would end up in a big city. Now that I’m here, though, I love it!
The only bad thing? Parking tickets!
