The Tuesday before last was my 21st birthday, so I took the chance to hit up some new and old favorites around Los Angeles.
The night before the big day, my friends and I decided to check out Syrup in downtown LA. This espresso bar/ dessert spot has delicious and inventive dessert crepes and waffles paired with atypical ice creams like rosemary blackberry.
The next day (my actual birthday), I was craving cheesecake, so my friends and I made a late-night Cheesecake Factory run. This is probably my favorite Cheesecake Factory, because it’s in the beautiful Grove shopping center. I had my favorite — chocolate raspberry truffle.
You would think that by this point, I would have milked my birthday for all it’s worth, but you’re wrong. Thursday night my dad was flying into LAX after a business trip so I had dinner with him, my brother (who works near Pasadena), and my mom (who drove down from Santa Barbara to surprise me). We went to one of my family’s favorites, Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion. I had a most excellent dinner of fillet mignon and lobster tail (how’s that for classy?) and ended the night with one of Roy’s signature chocolate souffles.
Overall, it was a great birthday with both friends and family. I can’t wait to see what my 22nd year of life brings!
Looks like you had a wonderful time in L.A…..its always important to rest and relax even while in school….good for the brain.
