With only a few weeks left of college, it is crazy to look back at all the great things I’ve got to experience here at USC. And surprisingly, one of the favorite parts of college was actually getting to live in the dorms my freshmen year. I know a lot of people get nervous with the idea of having to live with people you don’t know, but I’ve always maintained that if possible I wish I could live in the dorms all 4 years!

The reason I enjoyed living in the dorms so much was that I got to live in the best dorm – or at least the best dorm in my opinion! My freshmen year, I lived on the 4th floor of Pardee Tower. Pardee Tower is a traditional dorm, with 2-person rooms spread along a long hallway and a communal bathroom. The floors alternate by gender, so for 4th floor it was all girls!

When selecting a dorm, the most important thing I wanted was a dorm that was balanced which I think Pardee definitely is. If you need to buckle down and study, you can definitely do so in your room but if you are looking to be more social you can keep your door open and someone is always around to hang out! My floor especially was always very friendly and kept their doors open almost all the time which I really enjoyed!

I also really enjoyed the location of Pardee. Located near McCarthy Quad and Doheny Library, it is close by to not only many of the other freshmen dorms but also the heart of campus. It is also right next to one of the dining halls so it would always be easy to runover for a quick snack!

However, of course the best thing about my dorm was all the great friends I made. My freshmen year roommate is still my current roommate and I also live with two other girls that were on my floor. Living in the dorms is a great way to meet a lot of people and make close friends!

If you are deciding on a dorm, I would definitely recommend Pardee! I really don’t think any dorm would have been better for me.
