Hey everyone! I am having a great weekend and want to share with you what I’ve been up to!
Last night, the Helenes had our big annual fundraiser, Havana Nights. Havana Nights is a really fun event with games, dinner, a date auction and salsa dancing. Throughout the week preceding the event, we publicize and sell tickets for the event. All of the money we raise from the event is given to the Downtown Women’s Center, an organization devoted to helping homeless women.
I had a blast at Havana Nights! I don’t know how to Salsa dance, but it wasn’t long before a couple of people started to teach me. It was really fun! Here’s a video from the event:

Then, this morning, there was an event in McCarthy Quad called Spirits in Action. Spirits in Action is an event put on every year when kids with disabilities come to USC to participate in fun games and crafts. I went to volunteer there this morning and got buddied up with a girl named Janelly. Janelly and I had a ton of fun making crowns, hats, and playing games. Here’s a closer look at some of what we did today:

So, this weekend has been full of fun AND service. I can’t wait for next year! Tomorrow, I am going to the Getty Villa with a couple of people from my Women in Antiquity class. I have been there a couple of times before, but it’s been awhile, so I’m excited to go back. I’ll let you know how it goes!
