Well, after a wonderful summer working in a lab at Oregon Health & Science University, I’m excited to be back at one of my favorite places in the world – USC! I’m also  pretty excited because just this week my first ever paper was published! I was listed as a co-author on a paper I helped with during my summer internship. To read my paper online click here. Stay tuned for future publications too – I only helped with this one during the first couple of weeks of my summer, so there are more papers ahead! Now that I’m back at school, you might think my research has come to an end for awhile, but it’s really just starting up again.

I’m lucky enough to be starting my second year of working with Dr. Paul Newton on cell modeling projects – just like what I was doing at OHSU this summer! I really love my research so I’m happy to be starting up again this week. Besides my research, I’m also starting getting back into the swing of things with all of the other organizations I’m involved in. As Co-Chair of Special Events on the Trojan Scholars Society E-Board, I just ran the Orientation for Freshmen Scholars with my fellow co-chair, Austin. On the Society of Women Engineers Officer Council – Student Affairs Committee, I helped to organize activities for our first General Meeting last week. If you’re a female engineer in Viterbi, I highly recommend getting involved! Check out the SWE website here for more information and meeting dates. It’s a great way to meet other awesome girls, participate in professional networking events, and more.

I’m also happy to report that I successfully moved into my very first apartment! I’m living in Troy East and loving it – the location is unbeatable. My roommates are wonderful, and we’ve been having fun learning to cook for ourselves, clean for ourselves, and just generally survive in an apartment. We’ve been keeping busy with classes, hanging out in LA, and, of course, football. In summary – I’m so glad to be back at USC!
