Hey guys! I hope you all have had fun-filled weeks! I cannot believe there are only a couple more weeks left of this semester before summer. A fun event that the USC Concert Committee coordinates every spring is Springfest. They put together a day full of talented performers and attractions for students to enjoy. Springfest 2014 took place last Saturday, and I had a great time. I thought I would tell you a little more about why Springfest is so great.

This year, I arrived at Springfest (which takes place on McCarthy Quad) early to enjoy the attractions. Of these, my favorite were the hamster wheel and rock climbing wall. The Sustainability Club also set up bicycles where you could peddle to charge your own cellphone. I was able to talk to their representatives and learn more about going green and sustaining energy. Another great part of attending Springfest during the day is discovering new underground bands who play. I am a big fan of listening to new musicians and seeing the diverse musical talent in LA.

After a couple hours at Springfest, students started piling in as the time came closer for the headliners to perform. This year, New Politics, Tyga, and Diplo were the main performers. Before they went on, I was able to enjoy the food trucks on campus. They had a delicious one with gourmet burgers and fries. After I ate, I enjoyed New Politics (I am sure most of you are familiar with their song, “Harlem”). Next up was Tyga. My friend and I were able to go backstage for his performance. At one point, we were even called to dance on stage with Tyga. It was such a great time! In between sets, I even got to meet Diplo! He killed it during his set as Concert Committee passed out light up sticks to dance with. It made for a really great environment!

Needless to say Springfest was unforgettable. I cannot wait to see which performers USC books for next year. In the past we have had Macklemore and Katy Perry perform, so I can only imagine what great performers will be next. As always, have a great weekend and fight on!
