Hey guys! I cannot believe that we are already back at school for the spring semester. Time flew over winter break! Over the course of the several weeks we had off, I took part in a lot of fun activities.
To kick off the break, I took a trip to Lake Tahoe with my family to ski and snowboard. I was so glad to get there on the day following a snow storm so the powder was perfect! I also continued interning at Providence Medical Center and worked on a kaizen involving the hospital’s warehouse. Of course it was not all work over break, though. I went on lots of outings with my friends from high school. Just some fun places I explored included Manhattan Pier, Long Beach Aquarium, and Disneyland.
Now that we are back in school I am so excited to see what this semester has in store for me. So far, I am loving all of my classes and teachers. Since this is my first semester enrolled as an Industrial and Systems Engineering major, my classes are all new and exciting. I am anxious to learn more from my Accounting 410 class because I have never taken any courses in finance or accounting prior to this one. I also am enrolled in ISE 220, which focuses on probability and statistics. The teacher is so thorough and interesting… I can already tell this is going to be a great class!
Outside of the classroom, I am still involved in several outreach clubs. TABOO, Trojans against Bullying Online and Offline, has already committed to speaking to several middle schools about the problems and solutions for bullying. I look forward to our first visit this month! In addition, I am volunteering at a new high school with a club called ACTIVE, Achieving Change through Inspiring Values and Education. I am thrilled to get to work with a whole new group of students starting this coming week.
Two more organizations I continue to take part in are the Student Alumni Society and Pi Beta Phi. As a member of the Student Alumni Society, I have already received notifications for the events planned for this semester. Some of these which I hope to attend are Trojan SCuppers and USC Women’s Conference Networking Event. Additionally, I am eager for my sorority’s first invite this semester which is during the third week of February. Another fun event coming up is our spring philanthropy called Pie Social. This is a fun way for us to raise money by selling pies and getting pied in the face!
With so much potential, I am anxious to see how this semester plays out. I will keep you guys all up to date on what’s going on with me in the next couple of months. Have a safe and fun weekend! And as always, Fight On!
