Hi guys! I hope you have all enjoyed your summers! My summer has been one for the books. There were so many great experiences from my trip to the Caribbean to my internship with CenturyLink Technology Solutions. I thought I would tell you a little bit about some of these adventures.

To kick off my summer, my family and I took a cruise through the Caribbean. It stopped in Jamaica, Haiti, and Mexico. At these ports, we had some great excursions including swimming with dolphins and jet skiing. On the boat there were many different attractions, too! These included a wave pool, a rock climbing wall, a zip line, and a replica Central Park. My family and I also enjoyed many shows including a rendition of Chicago and a cirque de sole show with high divers. I am so happy I was able to spend such an amazing week with my family!

When I arrived back in LA from my vacation, I started my internship with Centurylink Technology Solutions, formerly known as Savvis. I worked with their technical sales team including the sales representatives and the solution engineers. Not only did I patch wires with the engineers, but I was challenged to plan marketing events and approach new customers. It was a great experience as I learned about collocation, managed hosting, and cloud services. I hope to continue expanding my understanding of Big Data through research this fall.

Another fun day of summer was the Fourth of July, which I spent in Manhattan Beach. One of my best friends from high school came home from Boston for the weekend and we had a blast! It was great to see old friends and spend the day at the beach. My favorite part of the day was definitely the fireworks in the evening. They had a big show that we could see from her rooftop. It truly was a great day!

Happy Fourth of July!

The weekend following the Fourth of the July, Will, Taylor, and I road tripped to Northern California. We stayed in Palo Alto with my friend in Viterbi, Eamon. We explored the city and even went to Stanford’s campus for lunch. The next day we ventured into San Francisco on the Cal Train and attended the Giants’ baseball game. We enjoyed hot dogs and the most delicious hot fudge sundaes.

My favorite memory of all summer was my experience skydiving with Zach! Who would have thought we would ever jump out of an airplane? It was the most exhilarating feeling, and I cannot wait to go again. I jumped tandem with my instructor, Brett, who was so helpful. He kept me very calm, even as I was falling through a cloud. If you have ever considered trying it, I highly recommend it!

For the rest of summer, I stayed in the Los Angeles area. Some of my favorite memories come from Dodger’s baseball games. Nothing beats a dodger dog! I also attended a concert at the Nokia Center in Downtown Los Angeles. The artist’s name was Flume, and he was amazing! Needless to say that this summer was fun-filled!

But now…. Time to get back to reality. I just moved into my sorority house and am ready for a great junior year. Although I am sad that summer is coming to an end, I am excited to see what this year has in store for me. Make sure to check out my blogs to see what I’m up to this fall semester. Fight on!
