Hey folks! If you just got back from Spring Break (like us), welcome back! If not, don’t worry, it’s right around the corner! Speaking of which, this semester has been flying by – it’s hard to believe that there are only 6 more weeks until summer! Midterm season is in full bloom again, but I have a feeling it won’t be too bad this time around. And at the very least, I’ve had all of spring break to recharge myself.
To start off my break, I visited Santa Monica pier on the evening of the last day of classes. While I’d been to Santa Monica before growing up, it had been awhile since I’d last visited, so it was nice to go there and spend the night enjoying the boardwalk, playing football on the beach, and hanging out with some of my closest friends.
Later on during break, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the USC Latino Alumni Association’s 45th annual Scholarship Gala. Since I was serving as a volunteer, I arrived early to help with setting up the event and checking in guests. Once the program started, I was treated to an amazing evening of great food, emotional speeches, and even a live opera performance – as you can tell, the evening was certainly quite something. I’m very grateful to have been able to attend, and can’t wait until next year!
Aside from these exciting nights, the majority of break was spent relaxing at home. I headed back to Oceanside and got the chance to spend some time with my family and my dogs, which is always nice after a long couple of weeks at school. Be it by visiting the beach, enjoying some good food at your favorite local restaurants, or throwing down during a March Madness takeover (looking at you Miles), it was great to not have to focus on school for a little while. It’s a good reminder that while traveling and going to new places is always exciting, every so often, just sitting back, relaxing, and being able to unwind in the comfort of your own home is just what you need for a proper break.
