It wasn’t until last year that I really took a look at the opportunities outside of campus, and before this summer I’m not sure I could’ve told you half of the places I know of now. That said, one place in particular has captured my fancy, and that’s West Hollywood.
Now, if you’ve heard anything about LA you have probably heard that West Hollywood has SO many things to do. And, this is especially true when you consider it is the home of The Grove shopping center, and numerous theaters. In addition to that I like West Hollywood for its lesser known attractions. For instance.
West Hollywood is also the home of the Petersen Automotive Museum! For any of the grease monkeys and motor-heads, or even just the curious, Petersen is a great place to enjoy several hours out of the day. History abounds in the many cars, motorcycles, toys, and fuel pumps that reside there.
If autos aren’t your thing but you’re still into seeing fun and interesting exhibits, then you’re in luck! Right up the street are two more icons of art. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the A+D Architecture & Design Museum play host for many different exhibits over the course of the year.

Metropolis II at LACMA. The model city is active with cars traveling at 240 scale miles per hour, a working train system, and the bustling noise of human traffic.
After exploring the museums you can grab a bite to eat at the farmer’s market, or check out some other food on La Cienega Blvd!
And if those places don’t quite pique your interest you can always check out the “last” resort.. The Grove! If I’m being real, this is probably the most popular place in West Hollywood. Being the acclaimed shopping center it is, The Grove is the most visited venue on my list, but that’s why I saved it for last. You’re definitely going to check it out at some point, but now you know the many other options in the area, ready for your exploration!
Adventure is out there!
