I can’t wait until November 1st!  I just finished booking the flight, hotel and registration for the Annual American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Conference: this year in San Francisco.

Like I mentioned in previous posts, AIChE is a professional organization that provides opportunities for meeting industry representatives, networking with potential employers and learning more about what ChemE’s can do after simply getting a degree.  Moreover it’s a group in which students can form close relationships with their professors and other chemical engineers.  In fact, just on Thursday we had our first mentorship mixer of the year.  Groups including a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior were made so that each student could share their advice and experiences about not only classes related to engineering but college life in general.  It was a fun hour of pizza and just talking, A nice break from a hectic week of meetings and classes and my first exam in analytical chemistry.

Another break I take from school work is meeting up with one of my good friends Larissa to play tennis every Friday.  I didn’t have enough units to take the tennis class but that doesn’t mean I don’t get the chance to hit the courts.  There’s even a facebook group in which USC students post whenever they’re looking for someone to practice with.  It’s a great way to meet new people and just get to play some tennis!
