While there are already so many organizations USC as a whole has to offer, the Viterbi School of Engineering has even more options of organizations to join. Organizations within Viterbi can be divided into Professional Organizations, Design Teams and More! Within Viterbi, the Klein Institute of Undergraduate Engineering Life oversees all Organizations to promote the organizations working together to promote the cooperation of the Trojan Family. Here’s part one of the Viterbi Orgs run down featuring Professional Organizations.Professional Organizations focus on helpings students at USC that have a major or cultural/social quality in common.
The Society of Women Engineers is a national organization and the largest student organization within Viterbi! They hold the annual Night with Industry during career week where representatives from some of the largest companies in LA such as Boeing and Intel come to have dinner with the women in engineering. In addition to their professional events, they do a lot with the community around USc to help inspire girls to pursue careers in engineering by going to schools and teaching girls coding, or brings girls to campus for tours, panels and interactive experiments!
The Association of Students in Biomedical Engineering is an example a major focused professional organization. They bring together students in Biomedical Engineering at USC, by holding events with professionals in BME, and fun social gatherings to help students at USC bond and help each other with their major!
The Association of Computing Machinery is the largest computing organization on campus and they hold Hack a thons, Industry Nights and a mentorship program so freshman in computing can get advice from upperclassmen. Their Hack a thons are popular among all grades at USC. They hold events specifically for new coders like freshmen and for seniors trying to solve the next cyber security problem!
