One of the best parts about going to school at USC is the school spirit and traditions! Of course we love our football, but school spirit isn’t limited to athletics. We like to show our pride in many different ways – here’s the rundown on some of the most important and fun school spirit traditions:
This is the first thing you need to learn about school spirit at USC – the V for Victory! This gesture, along with a “Fight On!” is appropriate for any situation – cheering at the football game, greeting a friend on campus, taking a picture at a USC event, or any time you want to make it clear where you come from.
It’s hard to find a group on campus more spirited than the Trojan Marching Band, also known as the “Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe!” Of course, you’ll see and hear them during football games, but you’ll also hear them practicing on campus during the week. They even do special performances like during finals week to get everybody pumped up and read to go! Watch the TMB performing Tribute to Troy and our fight song outside Heritage Hall, home of the athletic department.
Some people think that Tommy Trojan is our mascot, but in fact, our mascot is this magnificent creature, Traveler! He’s always around at football games and comes out to celebrate after every touchdown. He’s a fan favorite and sometimes even makes an appearance at special USC events like fundraisers and other gatherings.
