Scattered all across Los Angele are secret escapes that display the most amazing views of the city. Up a bunch of winding streets and hills in Malibu is one such place that is one of the most breathtaking and mesmerizing views I have ever seen. In order to get there, you have to drive up a big hill and park before walking up an old wooden staircase built into the ground. After you make it up the staircase, three incredible views await and instantly all worries or pressures are forgotten. Stretched out in front of you is the Pacific Ocean, to your left, the entirety of Los Angeles, if you turn around…massive red rocks piled on top of one another, dominating the backdrop.
You are literally on top of the world here. Watching shadows of orange, pink, and red illuminate the city while watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean makes you feel a part of something bigger. My friends and I will drive here to relax, think, or kick off the beginning of the weekend. There is hiking paths that weave in and out of the red rocks as well as a plateau where you can spread out a blanket and set up for a picnic. Places like this have really helped me appreciate living in such a bustling and lively city. The contrasting views of city life and nature remind me of why I love living in California so much. My favorite part about living in Los Angeles is definitely being able to adventure in the mountains or ocean, as well as enjoy all of the social and professional benefits of living in a big city.
You can find these spots in Malibu, West Hollywood, Brentwood, West Los Angeles and several other locations simply by searching “Top of the World” into Google. Whether you are kicking back with friends, looking for a romantic date-spot, or doing some sole searching…making the trip out to one of these locations is an unforgettable experience. Definitely take advantage of all LA has to offer and don’t be afraid to start crossing things off the old bucket list first semester!!
