I’ve been in LA for almost two years now but as a student a lot of my time – even on weekends – is spent on campus, or even going to the same places that I know I like. But one of the best things about a city like LA is that there’s alway something to see. These are the places that I have yet to go to but can’t wait to explore.

Griffith Observatory

Griffith LA

Griffith Observatory at night

Griffith Observatory is probably one of the most famous landmarks in LA (aside from the Hollywood Sign). Not only does it have amazing views, but visitors can also use the telescopes. I’ve never been to an observatory before and I think Griffith is a pretty good one to start with.

Last Bookstore

The Last Bookstore

The Last Bookstore has to be one of the most visually interesting bookstores that I’ve ever heard of. They constantly have book signings and a huge open floor plan full of books. As an absolute book lover I can’t wait to go.

Olvera Street

Olvera Street

Olvera Street is kind of like LA’s “little Mexico.” It’s just one street filled with vendors and musical events and food. They have celebrations for all kinds of holidays, like Día de los Muertos and Las Posadas and and Holiday Lighting celebrations. It’s a great cultural scene with some really good food.

LACMA

Lights Outside LACMA, taken by me!

So technically, I’ve been to LACMA… But only outside to take pictures. I’d actually like to see the exhibits inside. I’ve never really been to any art museums. LACMA is a great one because it has exhibits both inside and out.

I can’t wait for my next free weekend to start crossing these places off my list!
