It’s now December which means the semester is coming to a close and I have no idea where it went. It’s a bittersweet time of year. I’m not ready to be reach another milestone that means I I won’t be in college forever, but I’m so excited for Christmas and for the new semester. That being said, I’ve had a great semester and here’s why.
1) The Weekender

Lauren, Alex, and me at the Weekender at Stanford!
This year I got to go to the weekender with one of my best friends and fellow VSA, Lauren Howe. We drove up to the farm and got to watch the Trojans beat Stanford. Aside from a great football game it was so much fun to take a short road trip with my friends. I could not have imagined a better way to start off the year.
2) Bid Night
As a sophomore, this was my first time on the sisterhood side of recruitment and the end of recruitment, bid night when all the new members ran to the house was so much fun. Mostly I had such a good time because it was all of my friends and me eating In-N-Out and cake pops and dancing like crazy people.
3) Discover USC
Discover is one of the largest on campus events for prospective students at USC. As a VSA I get the opportunity to talk to high school students who are interested in applying to USC, Viterbi specifically. It’s a lot of fun to talk to all the different people and this year there was a photo booth (which the VSAs definitely took advantage of).
4) Being Elected New Member Coordinator
November is more than just election month for the country, as I have recently been elected New Member Coordinator for my social sorority. I’m really excited for this, because I get to shape a lot of girls’ experience, not just in the sorority but college as a whole.
5) Beating Notre Dame
As a sophomore I’ve only had two rivalry games against UCLA (both unfortunate losses) and then two against Notre Dame. This is the first rivalry game we’ve won since I’ve been at USC and it could not have been a better game 49-14 Trojans.
6) My birthday.
This year for my birthday my mom came down from Seattle and visited, so naturally she took me out to eat. I was treated to the WaterGrill downtown and more dessert than I could possibly handle with a couple of friends. If there’s food, then I’m happy.
7) Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. In my family, it’s basically a competition to see who can eat the most in a twelve hour period. There’s a lot of over eating and multiple helpings and always, always something with cream cheese frosting.
8) Physics Study Group
The study group I had last year with two of my friends who are also BME majors expanded for our physics class. It ended up going from a group of 3 people to a group of 6 of the most entertaining people I’ve ever met.
9) Halloween
Halloween this year was a lot of fun, I went to dinner with Lauren Howe and ate the entirety of a $40 giftcard to Bacaro, a local restaurant. Six plates of food later we were content despite the rain.
10) Getting My Little
This year in my sorority I got my amazing little. For our big/little pairing reveal we went to a roller rink in ridiculous costumes. It was a lot of fun with greasy pizza and ridiculous music, plus roller skating is a workout, right?
That’s been my semester! It’s been a lot of fun and I hope I have just as much (or more) fun next semester!
