Hi everyone,

This week I’m going to tell you about my favorite things to do outside of engineering, which is anything and everything to do with sports.  I’ve always been a big sports fan growing up, with my two favorites being football and hockey.  Growing up in Orange County, an hour outside LA, both of my favorite sports teams are based in LA: USC Trojan football and the LA Kings.  Now that I live at USC, I’m so close to my favorite teams and get to go to so many more games.

Of course, now that I’m a student at USC, I get to go to all the USC football home games.  It’s about a 5 minute walk from my apartment to the Coliseum.  I love going out on campus the day before the game and experiencing all the traditions that I grew up with in my family.  It’s also a fun distraction from midterm season.  Last week we had a great upset win over No. 3 Utah:

In addition, I’m just a few minutes drive from Staples Center in Downtown LA, home of the LA Kings.  It’s a really easy ride on the Metro to Staples, or you can take the USC shuttle to LA Live that runs on weekends.  I’ve been to so many great games while attending USC – I even got to experience a Stanley Cup winning season my freshman year!  Here’s a picture I took of a couple of my favorite players while at a game last weekend:

Watching Kings hockey and Trojan football games is awesome, but I’m not just a sports fan.  I also love playing hockey! I’m the president of the USC Women’s Ice Hockey team, and I spend a lot of my free time practicing and planning for the hockey team.  Here is a photo of teammates and fellow VSAs, Kelly and Sophie, at our game a couple weeks ago:

Overall, sports are a fun distraction and a really great way to get exercise.  In the future, I hope to get even more into the LA sports scene by going to some basketball and baseball games.

Have a good week and Happy Halloween!
