Hi everyone!
This week I’m going to talk to you about trying to stay in shape while in college. It can sometimes be a struggle because there are some really busy semesters where it seems like I just can’t find the time to get to the gym or cook a decent dinner! However, I’ve found that keeping up some moderate activity can be really helpful for dealing with stress and busy times.
When I have the time, I like going to the Lyon Center to work out in the mornings before classes. On a good day, I’ll catch up on an episode my favorite tv show while on a cardio machine (yay for wifi at the gym) and lift some weights. There are also group fitness classes, basketball and racquetball courts, and even a rock climbing wall. You can even go for a swim at the pool during certain hours.

One of the other ways I like to stay active is playing on my club women’s ice hockey team. Club or intramural sports are a great way to continue some of the sports you played in high school, or even try a new one. Even during my busiest semesters, I still love to get off campus for a couple hours and go skate with my teammates.

And of course, the final piece to staying healthy is eating well. Luckily, there are lots of options on campus with healthy and tasty food. One of my favorites is Seeds Marketplace in the campus center. They have a really good salad bar – my favorite is the Southwestern!

Staying active and eating well can go a long way towards relieving stress and putting you in a better mood in general. There are lots of different ways to get moving at USC, so there’s something for everyone!
