Hey everyone!
This week I’m going to tell you all about one of my favorite places to go in the LA area – Santa Monica. It’s a really different feel from DTLA/the area around campus, so I like to go there every now and then for something different. I went there yesterday with my roommate for brunch, shopping, and a movie. I also was doing a little scouting, since I’ll be living and working there in just a few months!
First, we went to look at The Water Garden, which is the office complex in Santa Monica where the Amazon offices are. The Water Garden is a bunch of office buildings with a really pretty lake in the center. Lots of tech and entertainment companies, including Naughty Dog and CBS Television, also have offices there. There’s a lot of outdoor space to enjoy outside the offices, so I can’t wait to work there!

Then, we stopped for brunch at the Blue Daisy Cafe on Broadway. It had really good healthy food – I got scrambled eggs with avocado, spinach, and sundried tomatoes, with some zucchini hashbrowns. I also really enjoyed the neighborhood it’s in. It’s a short walk to the beach, shopping, and lots of restaurants.

Finally, we went for some shopping and a movie at the 3rd Street Promenade. There is a wide variety of stores within walking distance and an Arclight Cinemas for movies.

Santa Monica is one of my favorite places to get away and spend a day, and not just for the beach. It’s going to be a lot of fun to live there next year!
